CALEXICO LIVE AT LORNE THEATRE

Tuscan, Arizona’s favourite sons, CALEXICO, will perform a very special show at Lorne’s exquisite Art Deco theatre located along the iconic Great Ocean Road, Surf Coast Victoria.

Established in 1937, the Lorne Theatre has been an uninterrupted source of entertainment for culture enthusiasts, with the building standing the test of time. As Lorne Theatre’s first music event in the new iteration of this historic venue, CALEXICO is primed for the easy listening ears of music lovers from along the Surf Coast.

“You see, Calexico are amazing live. Not only is their material extraordinarily good, but this is a band who clearly just dig playing…” - The Guardian

Across their illustrious career, the charismatic core pairing of Joey Burns and John Convertino have earned a fevered following for their unique melting pot of Americana, cinema noir, desert jazz, TexMex tango, Latin rhythms, and French chansons.

Their 1998 album The Black Light and 2000’s Hot Rail saw their star rise, but it was Feast of Wire in 2004 that completed the trilogy of sorts and shot them into the musical stratosphere.

The band will perform Feast of Wire in its entirety, plus a generous handful of fan favourites with support from Melbourne singer songwriter AL MATCOTT.

Celebrate the double decade milestone of one of the greatest albums to enter our aural atmosphere and the return of CALEXICO to our Southern shores, and in the process revealing one of the Surf Coast’s best kept secrets; the nostalgic Lorne Theatre.

Next door to the Theatre you'll find the seaside tavern The Clam led by renowned chef David Moyle, celebrating food, drinks and music. Stop by from 12noon on Saturday for a wine, cocktail or snack soundtracked by Sky High Trio (Mike Gurrieri, John Bailey and Woody McDonald), and after CALEXICO, join Milo Eastwood as he hosts one of his infamous parties until The Clam’s shell closes.
