Hot on the heels of their monumental 20-track album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You,today Brooklyn quartet Big Thief announce they'll be returning down under for a 4-date headline tour this November 2022. The GRAMMY-nominated band will bring their phenomenal live show to their ever-growing audiences in SydneyMelbourneBrisbane and Perth. Released via 4AD / Remote Control RecordsDragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You is a sprawling double-LP exploring the deepest elements and possibilities of Big Thief. To truly dig into all that the music of Adrianne LenkerMax OleartchikBuck Meek, and James Krivchenia desired in 2020, the band decided to write and record a rambling account of growth as individuals, musicians, and chosen family over 4 distinct recording sessions. In Upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, The Rocky Mountains, and Tucson, Arizona, Big Thief spent 5 months in creation and came out with 45 completed songs. The most resonant of this material was edited down into the 20 tracks that make up DNWMIBIY, a fluid and adventurous listen. The album was produced by Krivchenia who initially pitched the recording concept for DNWMIBIY back in late 2019 with the goal of encapsulating the many different aspects of Adrianne’s songwriting and the band onto a single record.

The attempt to capture something deeper, wider, and full of mystery, points to the inherent spirit of Big Thief. Traces of this open-hearted, non-dogmatic faith can be felt through previous albums, but here on Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You lives the strongest testament to its existence.

Earlier this month, Big Thief returned to The Late Show with Stephen ColbertSince their last Colbert performance in 2019, Big Thief’s cult-like following has only intensified. This time around, the band played ‘Simulation Swarm,’ a long-time fan favourite of their live shows that found its official release on DNWMIBIY. The performance flexes all of what makes Big Thief lovable: Adrianne Lenker’s alluring lyrics, the band’s musicianship, and their overall unmatchable chemistry.

With a discography already littered with masterpieces including 2020's U.F.O.F. & Two Hands, 2017's Capacity and 2016's Masterpiece, Big Thief are one of the must-see bands of our generation.
